Integrate Google Spreadsheet with Google Maps
The Google Maps integration enables SiteTrax.io users to visualize their asset data using Google My Maps. By following simple steps, users can import their SiteTrax.io Google Spreadsheet into Google My Maps to view and interact with asset locations based on GPS coordinates.
Prerequisites:
- You have signed up for SiteTrax.io at the SiteTrax.io Intelligence (https://app.sitetrax.io)
- You have scanned at least one asset with any camera
- At least one asset is inside of a Google Spreadsheet (automatically pushed from SiteTrax.io).
Steps for Integration:
- Open Your Data: Access your SiteTrax.io Google Spreadsheet
- Open Google My Maps: Log into your Google Account to open Google My Maps (link here).
- Create a New Map: Click the "Create a New Map" button in Google My Maps.
- Import Data: Use the "Import" option to select your SiteTrax.io Google Spreadsheet from Google Drive.
- Assign Coordinates: Map the latitude (
gps_lat) and longitude (gps_lon) columns from your data to position asset markers. - Title the Markers: Select the "Text" column to title your asset markers.
- View Data: You can now view and interact with your assets on the map, including searching for specific assets.
Data freshness and interpretation
Google My Maps displays the observations included in the most recent import. New rows arriving in the source spreadsheet do not automatically refresh an existing map. Reimport the data to show later observations and check their timestamps. A plotted location is where an asset was observed; it does not establish the asset’s current position or continuous presence.
